Position Description:

Nevada Gold Mines is hiring for a Water Management Engineer.  This position would be reporting to the Water Management Senior Engineer, the Water Management Engineer is responsible for ensuring the water management plan is implemented and executed to facilitate productive mining.

 
Responsibilities:
  • Dewatering pump sizing based on well yield, selection, procurement and installation oversight.

  • Pumping equipment electrical system sizing, selection, procurement and installation oversight.

  • HDPE and steel pipeline design, material selection, procurement and construction management.

  • Maintain and update site wide dewatering water balance and pumping models for life of mine planning.

  • Develop operating, maintenance and capital budgets.

  • Develop project charters, scopes, execution plans, schedules and budgets.

  • Secure capital funding for projects through value assurance reviews, investment committee reviews and application for expenditure.

  • Secure contractors and materials through RFP process.

  • Manage contractors for pump system construction, pipeline installations, electrical system installations, well drilling and numerous other small projects.

  • Maintain and operate budget through forecasting and accruals.

  • Reconcile data for internal and external reporting.

  • Review designs and redline drawings for permit submittals.

 
 
Qualifications:
  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Civil Engineering or equivalent field.

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Mechanical/Civil related engineering in a mining environment.

  • Contractor Management experience preferred
  • Ability to show understanding towards a varied range of stakeholders.

  • Sound management skills.
  • Good communication skills – both oral and written.
  • Good people skills, able to build rapport with staff.
  • Computer Skills – EXCEL, AutoCAD, PowerPoint., Solidworks(bonus)

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

 

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018.
