Position Description:
Barrick is looking for an Underground Process Control Engineer to join our team.
 Reporting to the Electrical General Supervisor, the Underground Process Control Engineer, is responsible for the following:

  • The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Maintenance and Technical Service groups to provide advice and support together with maintaining and modifying the control systems and control strategies used to monitor, control and interface the operator to process areas throughout the mine site
  • Required skills in system design, configuration, integration, troubleshoot hardware/software and implement new strategies to improve reliability and efficiency
  • The candidate will support activities associated with DCS/PLC and SCADA systems, HMI applications, PC networking technology
  • Knowledge of process field instrumentation, controls technology, detailed design generation, implementation, system integration, and validation required
  • Daily responsibilities include solutions implementation and support of the maintenance team objectives
  • Experience to include the following: PLCs; Allen Bradley, Modicon, ABB etc. DCS Systems; ABB, Foxboro, Honeywell, Emerson, etc. HMI or SCADA software packages; Wonderware, Rockwell, GE Cimplicity, GE IFix, etc
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Process Control Engineering, BAS Instrumentation OR computer related field and/or five (5) to ten (10) years’ experience maintaining and troubleshooting controls systems required
  • Familiar with DCS/PLC systems and data historians preferred
  • Additional knowledge of OPC Server configurations, Microsoft Networking, MS Operating Systems, and MS Office applications preferred
  • Knowledge of control strategy development, loop tuning, advance process control strategies and/or applications and fiber experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment required
  • Must be highly motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision required
  • Strong dedication to safety and courageous leadership required
  • Demonstrated ability to perform essential functions of position required

The Turquoise Ridge property is located in the Potosi Mining District, about 43 miles northeast of Winnemucca, Nevada. Barrick is the operator and 75% owner of the mine with Newmont owning the remaining 25%.
