Position Description:
 
Barrick is looking for an Underground Control Room Operator to join the Underground Operations Team.
  

As Goldstrike underground moves towards adopting short interval control tools we are looking for Underground Mine Operations Center Coordinators to act as our “air traffic control” for our underground operations. This role will work collaboratively with front line supervisor and help instruct the miner to achieve plan or better performance based on information available to them through a variety of short interval control software tools.

 
Responsibilities:
  • Understand and communicate the mine plan
  • Develop plans to capture opportunity and/or mitigate risks
  • Create alignment across the supervisory level during their shift
  • Conduct an ongoing formal review of progress multiple times during shift as things progress and/ or change
  • Communication of key considerations in the mine plans; Operational philosophy
  • Stretch targets and metrics used to determine them
  • Develop knowledge of the strategic priorities for the mine and manage the shift in accordance to them
  • Mitigation of identified risks
  • Evaluate potential opportunities to further benefit the mine
  • Understand and define tactical priorities
  • Manage near term bottlenecks that are present for a short duration
  • Planned maintenance downs, man power issues, limited access, etc…
  • Set work plan in accordance to priorities and production targets
  • Monitor adherence to plan and make modifications as required
  • Occasional Travel to other mines may be required to learn and share best practices in this role
  • Preform other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of underground mine related experience required, supervisory level preferred
  • Knowledge of underground mine planning and mining methods required
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office systems required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills required
  • Leadership and coaching skills required
  • Safe work history required
  • Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position required
  • Analytical skills required
  • Observational skills required
  • Experience with Project management planning preferred
