Position Description:

Provides metallurgical expertise for advancing internal brownfields/greenfields growth projects through prefeasibility.

Assists with the identification of strategic processing technologies and processing alternatives and with their integration into the LOM growth plan.

Leads the development of geo-metallurgical standards for early-phase exploration projects to aid in ore routing and integration of potential ore into LOM growth plans.

Provides expertise for the evaluation of merger and acquisition opportunities that strengthen the business.

  • Developing metallurgical test programs to advance brownfield and greenfield growth projects through the scoping and prefeasibility investment stage-gate reviews with senior leadership.

  • Frequently canvasses industry best-practices and technologies for possible deployment within the region with focus on methods for processing lower-grade ores economically.

  • Works collaboratively with equipment OEMs to develop Class 4&5 CAPEX and OPEX estimates for incorporation into financial valuation models.   

  • Works collaboratively with Mineral Resource Management teams to develop drilling programs for early-phase exploration programs with the objective of generating adequate geo-metallurgical information for preliminary ore routing within the LOM growth plan.

  • Provide mentoring to junior metallurgists working with NGM.
  • Develops innovative processing alternatives that unlock hidden value to aid in the formation of mergers or accretive acquisition of target properties.

  • Occasionally works outside field of expertise using engineering logic and discipline to develop potential solutions to mining and infrastructure challenges.

  • BS in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering, Required
  • Ability to create teams, lead teams, work as part of a team, as well as work independently when needed

  • Strong proven oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent administrative, organization, and supervisor skills.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
  • MS or PhD in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering Preferred.

  • Understanding of project management principles.

  • Knowledge and utilization of Microsoft software packages including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Projects

  • Solid working knowledge of unit operations and key drivers of production for the Nevada Gold Mines portfolio.
  • In-depth understanding of refractory gold pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy.
  • Proven ability to lead innovative projects from conception through design.
  • Experience in managing contractors and leading technical teams.
  • Experience presenting and publishing high-quality work.
  • Autoclave or roasting plant experience.
  • Previous participation in scoping and prefeasibility studies.
  • Knowledge of geo-metallurgical data required for effective ore routing and best assay methods.
