Barrick Nevada is an integrated gold mining operation that combines the Cortez and Goldstrike properties in Nevada, employing a total of 3,000 employees and 800 contractors. The operation utilizes both open pit and underground mining methods with Autoclave and Roaster processing facilities at Goldstrike and Milling/Heap Leaching facilities at Cortez.

Responsibilities include: The Superintendent, Process Metallurgical Services will lead a team of professional and technical staff to maximize operational efficiencies in refractory precious metal processing. This includes on-site pyro and hydrometallurgical facilities, and a commercial scale laboratory with a focus on safety and environmental stewardship. The individual will be required to develop systems and measures that appropriately assess the operating facility, laboratory, and collective team’s performance. They will investigate and implement opportunities to increase competitive advantages and align them with the organization’s overall strategy. This includes developing the operating budgets, forecasts, metal plan production, and project management of capital installations. Key attributes include the ability to multi-task, set priorities, meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy, and to develop and promote technical talent. Candidate must be a team leader with excellent communication skills, be able to provide technical assistance and analysis to process group stakeholders, as well as other mine departments, environmental, safety and health.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:

• Bachelors of Science Degree in Metallurgy, Minerals/Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or related degree required; post graduate studies preferred
• Project management experience preferred
• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in metallurgical operations, engineering and/or laboratory environment required
• Advanced skills in utilizing Microsoft Office programs included Excel, Word and PowerPoint required
• Experience with plant control systems and use of data historian trends for operating and reporting preferred
• Knowledge of Oracle R11.510 or R12 or similar ERP/CMMS preferred
• Knowledge in Xeras (Runge) or similar zero-based budgeting tool required
• Ability to work with a team environment and excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position required
