Position Description:
The site CFO is responsible for commercial aspects of the site and the custodian of the site financial model and systems.  Together with the site GM, sets clear strategic directions for the mine operations that is in line with the strategic direction of Nevada Gold Mines.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the evaluation and assessment of all commercial aspects of the site - specifically around capital investments and contracts.
  • With the assistance of HO, develop, maintain and own the site financial model that should form the basis/justification for all site commitments.
  • Together with the site GM, own the site Management Report that contains all KPl's, write-ups and variance analysis required to effectively communicate monthly events at site compared to budget as wen as the rolling forecast.
  • Responsible for establishing a high functioning learn that can assist in producing quality financial outputs on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for his/ her team organization, employee development and succession planning.
  • Manage and maintain relationship with internal clients as well as both JV partners
  • Responsible for the implementation of corporates procedures and the implementation of corporate mandated programs.

  • Responsible for the management of the annual budget cycle and the updating of the monthly forecasts.
  • Support the General Manager in managing the joint venture requirements.
  • Owner of the site risk register and implementation of all risk policies and owning all commercial aspects of risk assessments
  • Develop and oversee funding and treasury processing as it applies to the joint venture and requirements on behalf of the operation (banking, cash calls, hedging, letters of credit, banking, financing Information, currency treatment).
  • Responsible for coordination and liaison with Corporate Finance Group in the establishment and preparation of standard reporting requirements on a timely basis including monthly reports, budgets, forecasts, long range plans, capital justifications, etc. to monitor cost profiles and investigate anomalies with responsible personnel. Ensuring that all accounting aspects such as capitalization, startup costs, ARO, etc. are considered and included in the final work product.
  • Provide assistance/support to other corporate departments such as Investor Relations, Corporate Development, Internal Audit, SOX Compliance, Treasury, Legal, Tax and Technical Services.
  • Liaise with Barrick's, and if necessary partner, external auditor and act as a key point of contact for their annual audit and intra-year audits.
  • Ensure financial and business controls exist in the business according to Barrick policies and existing laws.
  • Ensure, in conjunction with site management and the corporate Internal Audit Group that appropriate internal controls exist to protect company assets which are adequate for SOX certification purposes.
  • Complete necessary Information required by the Risk and Control Matrix, review segregation of duties, preparation of necessary information basis.
  • In conjunction with internal corporate and SBC personnel ensure appropriate and adequate insurance arranged and executed to protect the operations.
Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Mining Engineering, Finance, Economics, or another related field is required
  • Experience working with numerical financial modelling is required
  • Experience with modelling mining operations (mine and metal planning) experience is required
  • Life-of-mine planning experience is required
  • Five (5) years’ experience in the mining industry required
  • Experience working in a mining operation with a range of exposure to a broad spectrum of practical and technical areas required
  • Must be willing and able to work in a dynamic and changing environment required
