Position Description:

Reporting to the Resource Modeling Superintendent for our Carlin Site, Nevada Gold Mines is looking for a Senior Resource Modeler to join the Mineral Resource Management team.



  • Provide a strong contribution to the site safety culture and programs, encouraging and ensuring others do the same
  • Develop and maintain block models, grade estimates, and supporting documentation for assigned projects.
  • Analyze reconciliation trends and highlight risks and value adding opportunities to management
  • Build and maintain collaborative internal relationships with key departments (ore control, mining, engineering, process, finance, safety, and environment)
  • Participate in, oversee, and/or lead the implementation of key initiatives
  • Provide input into life of mine planning, near mine exploration, and feasibility studies
  • Prepare, provide, and participate in presentations
  • Provide skills mentoring and peer review within the Resource Modeling team, as needed
  • Assist ore control and growth geologists, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or a related field (e.g. Engineering, Metallurgy) required
  • Advanced degree in geostatistics - preferred
  • Minimum 5 years experience in geostatistical analysis and grade estimation – preferred.
  • Proficiency in mine to mill and resource/reserve reconciliation preferred
  • Experience in gold deposits preferred
  • Experience in mine geology, geological modelling, or near-mine exploration - preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills - required
  • Experience with Vulcan, Leapfrog, or other mining software - preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; both verbally and in writing required
  • Ability to lead and work collaboratively, within an integrated and agile multidisciplinary team, regardless of reporting structure - required
  • Ability to take initiative on projects and work independently - required

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018.
