Sr. Mineral Resource Growth Geologist




As a Senior member of the Technical Services and Mineral Resource Management team, the successful candidate will focus on replacing resource depletion and growing inventory through defining and testing robust targets in the near-mine environment. They will also be knowledgeable of the geology and mineralization controls of the Hemlo deposit, as basis for robust targeting, quality resource modelling, and effective mine planning.  



  • Lead a team designing and managing underground and surface drill programs in the near mine environment.
  • Work closely with Exploration, Mineral Resource Estimation, and Mine production groups to ensure a coordinated and effective exploration and growth strategy for the Hemlo Mine, and to build a robust pipeline of exploration and growth targets in order to replace depletion and grow inventory.
  • Participate on-going geological interpretation of the Hemlo deposit and ore controls.
  • Improve technical skills of the team of geologists, with a focus on industry best practice.
  • Submit regular reports highlighting key progress and results towards objectives.
  • Prepare and present well-based program proposals and budgets.
  • Prepare clear presentation material as required for site and corporate presentations.
  • Bachelor of Science in Geology  
  • 8+ years of mine geology and exploration experience, including in-mine/near-mine experience.
  • Registered, or ability to register, as a Professional Geoscientist with APGO 
  • Relevant geologic/field experience in greenstone belts and their gold deposits 
  • Experience in planning and managing exploration and resource expansion drill programs 
  • Demonstrated track record of generating targets and finding gold  
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and leadership ability. 
  • Excellent communication and team management skills. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, community and environment 
  • Demonstrated ability to train and mentor younger geologists 
  • Working knowledge of relevant software, including Leapfrog, Vulcan, ArcGIS.  
  • Proven attention to detail with a high level of accuracy 
  • Excellent organizational, time management and office management skills 
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently  
  • Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills, with a courteous and pleasant customer service focus 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Capability to multi-task, self-manage and self-motivate 
  • Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
