Position Description:

Nevada Gold Mines is looking for a Senior Environmental Engineer to join the Environmental group at Turquoise Ridge.  The successful candidate will ensure that all legal and other compliance obligations of the mine are achieved regarding their assigned media.

  • Coordinate with site personnel to successfully develop permitting amendments and/or revisions and complete associated activities.
  • Ensure compliance to assigned program/permit obligations.

  • Manage the lands, closure and reclamation programs

  • Maintain and update the reclamation cost estimate for bonding

  • Lead and develop Environmental Engineers, Coordinators, and Technicians, as assigned, by overseeing the maintenance, evaluation and reporting of collected data to NGM management and governmental agencies. 

  • Assist operating division personnel in achieving their objectives.

  • Assist with training of employees, contractors, and others.

  • Oversee inspections of operations to ensure permit compliance including accompanying regulatory inspectors on periodic inspections of work areas on and off the mine site. 

  • Fill in as department head, if required.

  • Responsible for periodic, after hours on-call response to environmental incidents, as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Mine Engineering, Ecology or related field required
  • Five (5) years direct experience in environmental compliance with a minimum of three (3) years in an industrial setting, including regulatory agency interactions required

  • Previous supervisory experience required.

  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills required

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously required

  • Experience in NEPA and Land Management Programs required.
  • Experience with project management (contracting and oversight) required.

  • Familiarity with compliance systems and ISO 14001 preferred

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and ArcGIS preferred

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.
