Responsibilities include: The successful candidate will work with Drilling Services, Operations, and Geology teams to ensure drilling programs are executed according to plan and in compliance with all Barrick Safety and Health, Contractor Management and Environmental policies and applicable regulatory agency guidelines.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following;
  • Review project scopes of work and support drill planning
  • Provide technical advice on the suitability of proposed drilling methods to achieve project objectives
  • Ensure drill sites are constructed within design parameters and are ready for occupancy, drill rigs are properly set up
  • Report detailed daily activity accurately to convey hole status, hole conditions, sample quality and recovery and delays to drilling
  • Partner with Mine Operations personnel; drill station setup and prep
  • Ensure all down hole surveys are performed to client specifications, inspect equipment and laydown areas, manage inventory of consumables
  • Manage/monitor all facets of drilling contractor on site including but not limited to drill cost tracking and driller performance for penetration rates, down time, consumables, safety incidents, etc.
  • Participate in contractor safety meetings and incident investigations
  • Supervise, train, and mentor drill supervisors.
  • Conduct visible felt leadership (VFL) interactions with drill contractors
  • Perform other duties as assigned


BASIC REQUIREMENTS:  To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:
  • Five (5) years of experience with exploration and/or production drilling, specific technical knowledge of surface and underground rotary and core drilling  required
  • Experienced in contract management and cost controls preferred
  • Experienced in water well drilling preferred
  • Strong commitment to achieving zero accidents and citations required
  • Good communication skills and problem solving skills required
  • Experience with computer software (MS Office, Reflex Sprocess and/or Gyro, Vulcan) preferred
  • Familiarity and understanding of exploration process preferred
  • Proven safety record required
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of expertise required
  • Ability to make sound judgments regarding safety, environment, and regulations required
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job required
