Position Description:
Williams Operating Corporation, a Barrick Gold Mine located near Marathon, Ontario, is currently recruiting for a Project Engineer to join the Projects Team. The candidate must be able to contribute positively within a team of professional and technical people in a changing, creative, and energetic work environment committed to the production and ongoing development of this 10,000 tpd community-based gold mining operation.
Situated near the beautiful shores of Lake Superior in north western Ontario, 350 km east of Thunder Bay, we have an underground/open pit;  residential mine site.
This rugged and beautiful area is an outdoor paradise - home to dozens of species of birds and animals as well as  moose, black bear and deer.  The successful candidate will report to the Senior Project General Foreman. Responsibilities include:
• Working safely, responsibly and in accordance with applicable legislation, company policy, standards and procedures
• Developing projects through the project management process groups: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring/Controlling, and Closing, for both independent projects and as support for larger projects
• Conducting risk assessments and implementing risk management plans
• Working with Project Scheduler and maintain the project master schedule
• Working with Contract Specialist to prepare tender documents, conduct bid evaluations and prepare contracts
• Managing document control
• Reviewing new issue drawings and contract documents for change of conditions; quantify impact of changes; distribute new issues to field
• Overseeing construction and monitoring the safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance and acting to correct deficiencies
• Preparing weekly and monthly project status reports, accruals and cost forecasts
• Graduate of Civil or Mechanical Engineering/Technology program with 3+ years of technical experience in the infrastructure/heavy civil industry; project management and underground mining experience would be assets
• Working knowledge of scheduling, cost updates and contract management
• Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
• Proven interpersonal, effective communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
