Process Plant Technical Services Superintendent 
Barrick is looking for a Process Plant Technical Services Superintendent to join the Processing team. The Process Technical Services Superintendent is responsible for the safe and efficient management of the Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering, and Metallurgical and Assay laboratories at Pueblo Viejo.  The person in this position will manage activities to create and support the execution of a business optimized life of mine plan.  Included in the responsibilities are Process Metallurgical/Chemical engineering, production metals accounting, business improvement projects, and operation of the Metallurgical and Assay laboratory.  The successful candidate will coordinate activities that support Barrick’s best business practices.  When necessary the successful candidate will modify existing or create new procedures and other tools that will ensure the asset value of Pueblo Viejo is maximised while staying true to the Barrick Vision and Core Values.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify, hire, train and supervise the process technical services personnel, including Metallurgical/Chemical Engineers, and all Analytical and Metallurgical Laboratory personnel to optimize the business.
  • Identify, hire, train and supervise the process technical services personnel, including Metallurgical/Chemical Engineers, and all Analytical and Metallurgical Laboratory personnel to optimize the business.
  • Manage the safety and training programs for the process technical services.
  • Manage all activities related to metallurgy, reagents accounting and quality testing as required for the process plant. 
  • Manage all activities related to operations data entry, metals and production accounting, KPI board and reporting. 
  • Look for optimization opportunities and in conjunction with the ORT process and the continuous improvement program of the process plant, Sponsor the implementation of projects to increase productivity, throughput, recovery, reduce operating costs and improve safety. 
  • Implement changes to the business and process control systems to support the continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Contribute to the zero-based budgeting for the operations of the process plant.

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering is required.
  • Accredited post secondary education will be considered, depending on nature and extent.
  • 10+ years of experience in a technical role in process plants.
  • Pressure Oxidation experience is highly preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred
  • Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in the use of production, maintenance and engineering software systems.  
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing safety and training programs.
  • Leadership and Conflict Management 
  • Ability to work under pressure
