Process Operations Superintendent
 
Barrick is looking for a Process Operations Superintendent to join the Process Operations team. The role of Process Operations Superintendent is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Milling, Autoclaving, Oxygen Plant and Lime Kiln circuits at Barrick’s Pueblo Viejo Mine.  This 24,000 TPD Ore processing plant producing Gold, Silver, and Copper Sulphide resides in the heart of the mountains of the Dominican Republic.  The person in this position will manage activities as needed to create and support the execution of21 a business-optimized life of mine plan and develop an empowered workforce.  The position will require close coordination with a growth projects execution team to ensure the seamless transition to operation of new process expansion circuits.  The successful candidate will coordinate activities that support Barrick’s best business practices and be part of a team that ensures the asset value of Pueblo Viejo is maximized while staying true to Barrick’s Vision and Core Values.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, hire, train and supervise the Process employees for the ore pre-treatment unit operations, ensuring safe and environmentally conscious performance.
  • Manage the continued development of training programs for the process ore pre-treatment employees, including the development of the national workforce.
  • Look for optimization opportunities, and in conjunction with the Business Improvement program, sponsor the implementation of projects to improve safety, increase productivity (throughput and recovery), and reduce operating costs.
  • Implement changes to the business and process control systems to support the continuous improvement and expansion initiatives.
  • Contribute to the optimized budgeting for the operations of the process plant.
 
Qualifications:

  • A minimum bachelor’s degree in Mining, Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering is required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in process plants. 
  • Refractory Precious Metals Ore processing experience is highly preferred.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Proficiency in the use of production, maintenance and engineering software systems.
  • Computerized Main Management System knowledge
  • Proven record of accomplishment in developing and implementing safety and training programs.
  • Project management experience preferred.
