Position Description:
Barrick is looking for a Process Manager to join the Processing team. The Processing Manager will lead the Processing Department through providing direction and support to the Mill Operations, Mill Maintenance and Technical functions to ensure a safe, productive, and cost-effective Department. In addition, this role is accountable for ensuring and continually improving Management Systems that are effective and aligned with the overall requirements of the Hemlo Operation. The Process Manager will report directly to the General Manager

• Forming a high performing team through recruitment, succession, training, mentoring, and organization of personnel reporting directly to the Processing Manager position including bi-annual performance reviews
• Set long-term Processing strategy and compliance direction to support the delivery of the mine site’s strategic business plan
• Accountable for the development of annual work programs and budgets for current and proposed activities for the Processing Department and to steward work towards meeting the Hemlo Operation’s and Corporate established annual goals, objectives and performance targets
• Monitor trends and ensure that adequate safety and environmental standards exist and are being followed consistent with company, federal, and state regulations.
• Accountable for ensuring the Processing Department execution plans are developed and implemented in support of the Hemlo Operation’s Strategic and annual deliverables including regular (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual) Processing measurement and indicator targets
• Maintaining compliance with the International Cyanide Code
• Ensuring that security processes are implemented to maintain compliance with Barrick Gold Security Standards
• Improve the Processing Department’s Management Operating System (MOS) to ensure that clearly defined processes are functional and maintained to manage business requirements, risks and opportunities plus aligned with the site plan Do Check Act cycle
• Developing and maintaining contacts and networks internally and externally to assist the Processing group in carrying out its business effectively.
• Embed a culture of continuous improvement and effectively manage change within Department
Key Result Areas and Measures:

• Meeting or exceeding budgeted Processing physicals and costs (Tonnes Processed, Recovery, Run Time, cost/milled tonne, Plant Availability, Plant Utilization of Availability, throughput rates)
• Processing Capital projects completed successfully on time and budget
• Processing Department Talent Management process quality and timeliness
• Succession plans in place for critical roles
• Cyanide code compliance
• Key Tailing Dam metrics (water levels, deposition metrics, monitoring compliance)
• Environmental management metrics (spills, water, power)
• Tracking continuous improvement opportunities measured by cost reduction and/or productivity improvements)

• Bachelor of Applied Science or Engineering degree in Metallurgy, Minerals or Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline. 
• Minimum of 10 years proven experience in Process operations, maintenance and engineering ideally gained across a variety of organizations, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience at management level
• Expertise with provincial legislation, a working knowledge of industry best practices and proven experience with implementing processing systems and practices
• Strong sense of professionalism and purpose, with proven capacity for problem-solving and producing sustainable results through teamwork and individual effort;
• Proficient computer literacy, oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills.

• Outstanding consultative, critical thinking and analytical skills with ability to operate strategically
• Demonstrated capacity to execute plans and hold self and others accountable for their performance and deliverables

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Capability to multi-task, self-manage and self-motivate
• Ability to travel to other Barrick locations, including head office as needed/required.
Major Challenges:
• Leading and implementing change to foster a positive safety, cost conscious, continuous improvement and results driven culture at a mature site with a workforce that are resistant to change with immature systems and inconsistent legacy and personality driven processes
• Balance the strategic aspects with the tactical role of managing the Processing functions across site while demonstrating visible felt leadership in the field
• Maintaining a focus on the operational and productional requirements and collaborating with the Capital Projects team responsible for implementing a significant tailings expansion project in 2019 and 2020

The Hemlo property consists of Williams Operating Corporation, an underground and open pit mine, located approximately 350 kilometers east of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
