Position Description:
 

Are you ready for that next opportunity!  Do you have a passion for mineral processing using a variety of methods including mill, leach, autoclave.  Have you supervised process operations personnel including superintendent and general foreman with responsibilities in the refinery, carbon handling, metallurgical support and process engineering.   You could be the person we're interested in talking to for this role!

 
 
 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Implements and holds reports accountable for a comprehensive health, safety and loss prevention program and an environmental performance program.
  • Proactively seeks, and ensures indirect reports seek, processes and procedures to improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the department.
  • Addresses performance issues with personnel and holds them accountable to expectations jointly agreed to, and has direct reports do the same.
  • Engages in strategic planning for own department, participate in same for site, and actively supports the same for the State.
  • Leads and manages the processing team by clearly defining expectations of the processing staff’s roles and responsibilities.
  • Actively analyzes past incidents and known risks, and insures direct reports are doing the same, and actively pursues methods to reduce incidents and risk potential.
  • Trains and teaches direct reports, and ensures indirect reports are trained, on what is needed to do their job safely, effectively, and within state and federal law.
  • Leads by example and ensure the processing team is living the Newmont values.
  • Leads the processing team by developing and communicating a strategic plan.
  • Monitors and determines methods to meet budget/cost estimates.
  • Leads and manages change.

Qualifications:
  • Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or related fields with 10 years of management experience or equivalent combination of the experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Work with and interact well with other groups, such as Environmental, HS&LP, People Strategy, External Relations, Materials, and Geology,
  • Interpersonal skills to assist in public relations, including interacting with city, county, state and Native American officials.
  • Keen business sense toward maximizing cash flow, maximizing net asset value, minimizing unit costs, and maximizing earnings.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, interpret and learn metallurgical literature, technical data and manuals, material safety data sheets and utilize the information to improve process, prevent loss or minimize risk,
  • Keen business sense to complete the feasibility work involved to request and submit requests for capital expenditures,
  • Exceptional communication skills in the area of: presentations, written, listening, providing feedback and speaking.
  • Ability to read and comprehend legal documents for the purpose of making effective management decisions.
  • Business sense, technical sense and vision to resolve technical issues.
