Position Description:
 

Nevada Gold Mines is looking for a Mine/Ore Control Geologist I,II,III to join the team.

 
 
Responsibilities:

Ore Control Geologist III:
  • Generate monthly mine production and ore reconciliation reports;
  • Generate and communicate the stockpile management plan;
  • Refine assay sample collection and ore routing criteria;
  • Work with corporate engineering groups and consultants;
  • Regularly evaluate project value and sensitivity;
  • Perform field work and assessments;
  • Proactively communicate and intervene as issues arise on a daily basis;
  • Supervise Ore Control engineers and geologists
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Mine Geologist I,II:
  • Pit mapping of highwall;
  • Chip/core logging of new and historical drilling;
  • Completing pit mapping compilations for yearly updates;
  • Geological interpretation and modelling for mine model updates and ore targeting opportunities;
  • Coordinate Infill and Stepout drilling programs;
  • Effectively communicate with Mine Geology, Mine Engineering, and Operations groups;
  • Demonstrated and sustained safe work practices
 
Qualifications:
 
Ore Control Geologist III:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology or related field required
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in ore control in a large open pit production environment dealing with multiple ore types required
  • Five (5) years of Geology, Mining or related engineering experience preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Acquire and Vulcan software preferred
  • Excellent safety record with ability to demonstrate safety leadership required
  • Team leader, problem solver and excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Ability to work outside in varied weather conditions for extended periods of time required 
 Mine Geologist I,II:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology or related field required
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in Mine Geology in a large open pit production environment dealing with multiple ore types required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Acquire, Leapfrog and Vulcan software preferred
  • Excellent safety record with ability to demonstrate safety leadership required
  • Team leader, problem solver and excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Ability to work outside in varied weather conditions for extended periods of time required

About Nevada Gold Mines

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

 

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018.
