Position Description:

The Barrick Nevada (BNV) Technology and Systems (TAS) Network Administrator is responsible for designing, installing, monitoring, upgrading, maintaining and resolving issues pertaining to network infrastructure, and for creating and maintaining documentation at BNV Sites, within BNV network, technology, compliance and business standards. They are also responsible for supporting BNV Operations Technology (OT) networks, working closely with the site OT teams. They will work closely with other BNV TAS team members including the Service Delivery team, Technical Services team, Cyber Security Engineer and Project Manager to implement, improve and support technology solutions with a focus on enabling the BNV business to meet their business goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain Cisco routers, switches, and wireless technologies.

  • Respond to break/fix issues and perform root cause analysis to help improve stability through prevention of future incidents.

  • Rotate through the role of on-call technician on a periodic basis.

  • Monitor network devices, stability, and outages.

  • Assist with lifecycle management of network infrastructure.

  • Work with Cyber Security Engineer and others to identify and implement appropriate network security improvements.

  • Support BNV OT network team to avoid and remedy business disruption.

  • Fiber wire splicing and copper termination for new installations and repairs.

  • Maintain fiber maps and inventory up to date.

  • Installation of cabinets, radio links, AP's on towers.

  • Maintain and support towers and fiber sites.

  • Support to network related issues of users.

  • Maintain, clean and test fiber strands.

  • Operation and maintenance of miscellaneous computer equipment and peripherals.

  • Safely operate light vehicles and adhere to site policies.

  • Understand BNV business objectives and approach work in a manner that maximizes contribution toward these goals, including proactively identifying issues and opportunities.

  • Identify, discuss and implement measures to streamline and/or automate appropriate support work to enable TAS focus on the most value-added work.

  • Ensure opportunities identified for implementation achieve target objectives and performance metrics.

  • Develop, transfer, and embed of best practices across BNV Sites.

  • Work closely with the BNV Networking Lead to define the future state of BNV Networking infrastructure.

  • Engage business to ensure site networking requirements are enabling production requirements.

  • Communicate effectively with various levels of personnel.

  • Demonstrate comfort in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift frequently.

  • Demonstrate the ability to work with cross functional teams.

  • Demonstrate exceptional organization and time management skills.

  • Use great interpersonal and group communication skills and be a team player with terrific attitude.

  • Discuss and manage your career development with the BNV Service Delivery Lead.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • Two (2) year technical degree and/or certification preferred.

  • Cisco certification CCNA required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a business networking environment required.

  • Mining experience preferred.

  • Exceptional safety, performance, and attendance records required.

 

This position is located within Barrick Nevada and assigned to a specific site directed by the BNV TAS Site Leader. Travel between BNV sites as required.
