Position Description:

 

 

Barrick is looking for a Metallurgist to join the Process Operations team. The Metallurgist will provide metallurgical support and technical assistance by identifying ways to improve costs and system performance.

   

Responsibilities:

    

  • Coordinate the daily to monthly Metallurgical and Technical required for achieving the Budget and Forecast production plan
  • Provide metallurgical support and technical assistance by identifying ways to improve costs and system performance
  • Plan, conduct, and apply Metallurgical principles to solve problems within the process flow sheet
  • Research and analyze data, summarize findings in written reports and formal presentations
  • Interface with both operations and mechanical personnel to ensure smooth operation of the process
  • Supervise metallurgical technicians and entry level metallurgists as required
  • Maintain OH&S standards and ensure compliance within the process plant
  • Ensure physical reagent and consumable management is aligned with the Budget and Forecast requirements
  • Lab and pilot scale testing in electro winning and resin loading/elution characteristics in the TS leach system
  • Coordinate inputs and data collection, sampling, and analytical laboratory function related to the complete Metallurgical Accounting Function
  • Ensure a sustained and collaborative team effort between Metallurgy and other cross sectional and departmental boundaries
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering, with related three (3) to five (5) years pertinent technical experience required
  • Knowledge of thiosulfate leach system required
  • Experience with electrochemical processes in the TS system preferred
  • Ability to prioritize with effective use of time management required
  • Ability to work with confidential documents and projects required
  • Ability to work with confidential documents and projects required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present information effectively to any audience required
  • Ability to work in a fast-pace environment and demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks required
