Williams Operating Corporation, a Barrick Gold Mine located near Marathon, Ontario, Canada is currently recruiting for a:


The Mechanical Engineer provides technical support to all site maintenance groups in the form of rigorous data analysis, failure analysis and root cause investigation.

• Reporting to the Senior Reliability Engineer, assist with the continued implementation of Barrick's Maintenance Management System with specific focus on increasing equipment availability and reducing cost ($/T) of maintenance.
• Work closely with Maintenance Planners to streamline the weekly maintenance workflow. Assist with the continuous improvement of maintenance strategy and improving use of the electronic Enterprise Asset Management system (Oracle).
• Track and review planned / unplanned down time and assist with Root Cause analysis for failure of equipment major components. Work towards leading this process on an ongoing basis.
• Partake in the criticality assessment review for key assets. Develop this process to align with Corporate and industry best practices.
• Support the Plant Department with the Management of Change associated with maintenance procedures, materials and acquisition of new equipment.
• Coordinate with Regional & Corporate maintenance groups to assist with the delivery of specific reliability-focused initiatives.
• Provide support to other maintenance staff for maintenance budgeting, cost reporting and variance analysis.
• Work with the Supply Team to identify critical spares and streamline the procurement / stocking of replacement parts.
• Facilitate the sharing of best practices between maintenance groups across site & work towards facility-wide commonality of maintenance strategies.
• Assist with definition & tracking of Key Performance Indicator for site equipment & maintenance work teams.
• Provide technical/engineering support to other maintenance staff as required.

Job Requirements:
• Degree in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering.
• Preferably 1 to 3 years practical engineering experience working in mining or other industrial field.
• Working towards registration as Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
• Understanding of Reliability Centered Maintenance techniques.
• Experience with Oracle or other electronic Enterprise Asset Management systems.
• Training in failure analysis and in the use of root cause investigation techniques.
• Understanding of condition monitoring practices such as oil analysis, vibration analysis, ultrasonic testing, thermography, etc.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrates high levels of initiative and preferably has a history successfully of implementing change.
• Strong prioritization, organization and reasoning skills.
• Ability to self-direct and work well within a team.
• Experience with the following or similar software:  Oracle, Ivara, Viziya, Xeras, MS Office, MS Project
