Position Description:
Barrick is looking for a Manager, Long Term Planning to join the Growth, Long Term & Strategic Planning team. This position provides leadership in the creation of long-term value for the Asset, through creation and maintenance of long-term plans, and technical stewardship. Works closely with Exploration and MRM for discovery and geo-scientific understanding of mineral endowment, management of brownfield exploration as it relates to effective long term planning.
  • Demonstrate active participation in the management of the operation to ensure that health and safety, environmental, production, cost and cash flow targets are achieved
  • Be responsible for strategic, long-range mine planning, and collaborating with ore control and geology.
  • Manage a number of professionals including engineers and specialists which provide technical support for the Nevada Operations.
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate with other site divisions as well as other Barrick Technical Services groups.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering or related degree preferred
  • Minimum ten (10) years of mining experience in progressive supervisory or technical roles required
  • Two (2) years of experience in a project management role preferred
  • Strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, risk analysis, problem solving and analytical skills required
  • Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, MS Outlook required
  • Familiarity and/or experience with Oracle preferred
  • Experience in engineering software (Deswik, Vulcan, Whittle, Xeras, etc) required
  • Capability to lead, mentor, and develop technical staff required
  • Competence in mine economics, evaluation techniques, and budgeting for mine operations required
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing required
  • Proven safe work record required
  • Ability to effectively perform all functions of this role required
