Position Description:
 
Barrick is looking for a Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility to join our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team located in Elko, NV. The successful candidate will work closely with site personnel and serve three key functions:
 
  1. Leading compliance with the Company Anti-bribery and Anti-corruption policy (specifically, Appendix K as it has been developed for Barrick operations in the United States) for all Barrick US Operations excluding Barrick Nevada and Turquoise Ridge Joint Venture;
  2. Developing and maintaining CSR management systems and tools to ensure alignment with CSR USA Strategy for all Barrick US operations excluding Barrick Nevada and Turquoise Ridge Joint Venture.
  3. Supporting all Barrick US operations excluding Barrick Nevada and Turquoise Ridge Joint Venture in implementing and reporting for the CSR function.
 
This role will lead compliance for all Barrick US operations excluding Barrick Nevada and Turquoise Ridge Joint Venture of the policy in alignment with the CSR US procedure. With new leadership in the CSR function for Barrick US and other corporate changes, Barrick US operations excluding Barrick Nevada and Turquoise Ridge require regular CSR support, including on the ground engagement. This role will serve primarily as technical support to existing Barrick personnel. The role will not serve an external representational role, though occasional external meetings will be necessary. This role will report to the Director of CSR and will make risk/opportunity-based recommendations for the Director’s engagement at each site. This role will coordinate CSR engagement across functions within Barrick in close collaboration with site leadership.
 
This role is scoped to facilitate the Corporate Affairs Department in implementation of the Barrick corporate Community Relations Management System (CRMS) and support and advise on the effective engagement between Barrick personnel and a wide range of external stakeholders, including Native American communities, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), regulators, governments, industry associations, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) organizations.
 
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Develop and maintain CSR management systems and tools to ensure alignment with CSR USA Strategy for all Barrick US operations excluding Barrick Nevada and Turquoise Ridge Joint Venture. These include, but are not limited to:
    • Stakeholder maps
    • Stakeholder Engagement Plan
    • Social Risk Register
    • Social Investment Plan
    • Social Obligation Register
    • CSR Action Plan and associated budget
  • Lead social investment compliance management system for all Barrick US operations excluding Barrick Nevada and Turquoise Ridge Joint Venture
  • Guide and advise all site- based personnel in the implementation of external CR/CSR activities
  • Report to Director CSR USA on site CSR function
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations, Public Administration, Graduate Degree preferred
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of related community engagement/CSR/development experience.   
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with data management systems such as Oracle, Concur, and Markview
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to interact positively with a wide array of employees and stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight timelines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-moving team
  • Ability to travel 50-60% of the time
