Position Description:
 
Barrick is looking for a Database Administrator to join our North America Exploration team located in Elko, NV. The successful candidate is responsible for maintenance, organization, continuous improvement, reporting and QA/QC of critical business information.  This information is vital to the successful economic performance of Barrick Gold Corporation.
 
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Organize and manage all aspects of the North American Exploration databases (including assay, geologic, geotechnical, and location information) and provide relevant information to functions within exploration and Barrick
  • Conduct QA/QC analysis on assay results, flag issues and resolve promptly
  • Train clients to use acQuire workspaces, aid in data import, perform QA/QC analysis, and export to various database customers
  • Expected to develop/initiate/lead continuous improvement activities, promote standardization, software proficiency, and inform all involved on project updates
  • Develop and maintain digital archival systems for all existing primary data such as assays certificates, down-hole survey, coordinates, and logging data
  • Maintain, upgrade, and continually improve analytical tools and SharePoint to provide rapid access to knowledge with real-time reporting
  • Linking SQL data to various applications and analytic tools. Maintaining and updating of datasets, participate and become a key contributor to the way forward
  • Keep abreast and apply new technologies that are fit for purpose within the GIS and Analytics fields.
     
    Qualifications:
     
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Database Management and/or three (3) years work experience in a database management/programming field.   
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Web development technology; SahrePoint, JavaScript, JQuery and PowerBI
  • Ability to write T-SQL queries to import, extract, and report data
  • Demonstrated proficiency in relational server-based SQL databases and data management
  • Demonstrated understanding of programming concepts and familiar with at least one programming language
  • Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate with a diverse group of peers and technical specialists
  • Self-motivated, organized and effective at prioritizing effort so that focus is on highest value activities
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organization skills with the ability to work under limited supervision
  • Innovative, always looking for ways to improve technical excellence of the team. 
  • Experience and proficiency with MS Office products
