Coordinator - Process Operations

Barrick is looking for a Coordinate to join the Process Operations team.  The objective of this position is to coordinate the daily operations of the process ant their activities to all operators of the control room to maximize and stabilize the flow though the entire process plant, highlight slowdowns and improvement opportunities to ensuring the quality and efficiency supporting to achievement of the objectives of production stablished.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide the entire process operations control room from ore crushing to final tailings to ensure maximum production is maintained for stable operations taking in to account the knowledge of each area in the field & control room as it pertains to the flow of the material and balance of the plant to achieve stable throughput without upsetting another area.
  • Implement the communications protocols, understanding the cause and affect it will have for each area when it has a production upset what before and after it with the purpose to know how to react to each upset causing as little impact as possible to plant throughput and to the adjacent process areas.
  • Monitor crushing, grinding and classification operations targets, autoclave throughput and conditions and feed tanks to ensure sufficient levels are maintained based on needs of the autoclaves and maintenance activities, ensure maximum production is maintained and equipment PMs are conducted to maintain operations (strainers cleaned, GEHOs flushed, Seal System Filters etc.
  • Monitor 02 Plant, flows, temps, LOX tank levels, lime slacker and kilns, flows temps, densities and levels, neutralization tanks, bed loading, rake torques, Ph., cooling towers, and HDS density to tails, monitor copper when online, monitor lime boil performance with slurry heaters’ efficiency to assist Neutralization in better downstream recoveries and lime use efficiency.
  • Monitor CIL throughput to provide added awareness and communication to meet needs of both areas (temps, flows, ph., viscosities, flow request).
  • Monitor water treatment at the Effluent Plant, ARD levels to ensure they are kept low for storm surge and fresh water usage and monthly average for compliance to maintain maximum discharge and compliance, water balance throughout the plant using reclaim, potable and fresh/fire water.
  • Advise to Condition Monitoring by monitoring temperatures, flows, vibrations, and report when issues are detected in order to provide feedback of potential problems or indications of human error and coach operators.
  • Read and understand the met reports of these areas to know when the daily blast is and if it will affect an area(s).
  • Assist the planning team of the weekly planning and scheduling process in order to ensure daily and weekly goals are achieved and be connected with the power dispatch area on upcoming downs to conserve on energy consumption.
  • Work with shutdown plans and schedules to ensure specific area maintenance activity does not affect another and these plans are understood, and proper planning takes place that supports the maintenance and Operational business objectives.
  • Work with area supervisors to create review and update operating procedures to assure the quality in the processes and the techniques for its good execution.
  • Understand when and how to use protocol procedures, excel sheets for run times/ downtimes to make a timely and adequate report when necessary.
  • Understand how to operate and control flotation, how the flot con will affect the process, the changes downstream that will need done, and potential opportunity of maintenance work that can be achieved on any slowdown of different circuits.
  • Support and contribute to the Process Superintendent and Maintenance Planning team objectives for shutdowns and opportunity work.

Qualifications:

  • Graduated in any Engineering area, preferable chemical, mechanical or industrial
  • Bilingual - (English/Spanish)
  • Microsoft Office

  • 5+ Years’ experience in Control Room Operations and/or Field Operation
  • Experience in a fixed plant wilt emphasis in crushing and conceying, milling, pressure oxidation, air separation, neutralization, metal extraction. Tailings, power monitoring.
