Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Database Superintendent at our Carlin operations.  The GeoScience Database Manager will ensure data integrity and consistency of the Carlin MRM Department databases through monitoring, security administration, application and database project management, standards, best practices and continuous improvement.  Provide leadership and supervision to Carlin MRM Database team.  The Database Manager will facilitate and implement program design management of complex database related systems in conjunction with mission essential and critical task requirements.

  • Interact positively with key stakeholders and conduct routine site visits at all Carlin Operations providing expert technical assistance, training and customer service and product quality reviews.
  • Maintain, manage and develop information system tools and techniques.
  • Assist application developers to ensure programming techniques result in optimum performance and minimal redundant stored data.
  • Administer database vendor contracts to ensure prompt resolution of problems and appropriate service levels. Monitor company database license and ensure that no violations occur and that access is maintained. Seek ways to minimize licensing costs.
  • Coordinate with database vendor technical support groups in problem resolution. 
  • Analyze, define and help develop new software applications or databases. Management of existing data sets including application management processes to ensure consistent QAQC and data integrity protocols are implemented, tracked and monitored. 
  • Maintain and develop software applications to generate reports, data listings, and data extractions from existing databases.
  • Develop database innovative projects to improve business results.
  • Develop and manage department Hardware/Software AFEs and maintain five-year budget plans.  Reconcile monthly budget expenditures.
  • Facilitate project cost and feasibility studies.
  • Ensure integrity of data residing in the mission critical, department databases. Participate in data management internal and external audits.
  • Ensure staff is trained and adheres to Nevada Gold Mines’s Safety policies and participates in Safety programs.  Consistently demonstrate and encourage safe work practices.
  • Position may be required to travel to and assist other domestic and international sites for specific issues.



  • B.S. in Computer Science or related field with 10 years of database administration and management experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of team and project management experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of proper administration techniques for company's current database technologies.
  • Structured Query Language (SQL) knowledge and 5 years of programming ability
  • Demonstrated knowledge in acQuire
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Self-motivated

About Nevada Gold Mines

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018. Three of these assets are Tier One gold mines: Barrick’s Cortez; the combination of Barrick’s Goldstrike and Newmont Goldcorp’s Carlin; and the combination of Barrick’s Turquoise Ridge and Newmont Goldcorp’s Twin Creeks.
