GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities include: The successful candidate will have the overall responsibility to manage and implement the closure activities at the McLaughlin, California closure site. The position is responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive closure activities associated with a tailings impoundment, waste rock facilities, open pits, along with several mercury legacy sites.

The position requires strong project management skills, the ability to manage the active closure and reclamation of the mine site, a proven record of environmental compliance. The incumbent must be able to work professionally with varied and diverse regulatory agencies and the ability to lead and direct subordinates.

Duties include but not limited to the following:

• Provide leadership to maintain compliance and facilitate any necessary mitigation actions to assure compliance.

• The position is responsible for achieving budget and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets for their site.

• Provide leadership and mentor site staff.

• Oversee the environmental aspects of active closure activities at site and provide planning and coordination for long term closure objectives.

• Provide direction and expertise as necessary in the timely scheduling and performance of site closure activities.

• Develop and maintain a clear and open line of communication with regional Director of Environment.

• Attend interactive meetings with regulatory agencies and state mining associations to represent McLaughlin activities.

• Develop professional and amiable working relationships with state/provincial and federal regulatory agency staff members.

SELECTION CRITERIA

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, such as Environmental, Mining, Geological or other Engineering, or Science discipline required

• Minimum of 10 years applicable closure experience required

• Demonstrated successful professional environmental work with Federal and State regulatory agencies required

• Must have a confident, professional demeanor and presence to effectively command attention and respect from a diverse audience, both internally and externally required

• Must have the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
