GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities include: The successful candidate will provide technical guidance and engineering support to North America Region’s underground operations. The candidate will be responsible for determining specific needs and developing action plans as required from information obtained from sites. Preparation of engineering studies and mining plans as required. Mentoring of site personnel as opportunity arises. Position requires an estimated 70% travel to operations and projects throughout North America. Duties include but not limited to the following:
• Model in all ways the attributes and behaviors of a safety champion
• Determine methods to extract minerals, considering factors such as safety, operational costs, deposit characteristics, overburden depth, and surrounding strata
• Plans, recommends, and coordinates mining process, type and capacity of mining equipment and deployment including labor utilization
• Reviews site mine plans and budgets as required
• Reviews mine site progress verses plans and budgets and assists sites in developing plans and systems to optimize site value and achieve objectives
• Assists in review of property valuations
• Conduct mine engineering duties for operating sites as required including developing project scopes
• Applies knowledge of mine engineering to solve problems concerned with all aspects of mining engineering
SELECTION CRITERIA
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:
• Bachelors degree in Mine Engineer or related field required
• Minimum of eight (8) years hands-on experience in mine engineering and mine operations with a significant portion of experience in underground work required
• Well versed in engineering and project standards and safety reviews required
• Engineering supervisor experience or equivalent preferred
• Demonstrated success in working with teams across all functional areas required
