GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities include: Team and lead responsibilities for the safety and health training needs for the entire Turquoise Ridge mine site including: Courageous Leadership, contractor hazard training, MSHA (Mine Safety Health Administration) new hire and annual refresher training, and other related training needs. This person will be responsible for compliance with MSHA approved training plans for all mine ID’s at Turquoise Ridge which includes all federal mandated training as stated by MSHA regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of these records. Ensure TapRoot Investigation training is available to the appropriate personnel. Ensure a healthy and safe working environment for all site workers. Individual must be focused on the development of a workforce that identifies hazards, manages risk, and utilizes safe work practices. Cooperate with supervisors, coordinators, and managers.
SELECTION CRITERIA
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety or related field preferred.
• Minimum five (5) years experience in mine health and safety preferred.
• Minimum two (2) years supervisory/management experience in occupational health and safety preferred.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of the Federal Mine Safety & Health Act 1977 and the 30 CFR required.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office software systems required.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written required.
• Demonstrated experience and aptitude in speaking and presenting to large and small groups required.
• Demonstrated experience and aptitude in classroom facilitation required.
• Excellent people skills with ability to show empathy and build rapport required.
• Ability to productively resolve conflict with employees, contactors, federal agencies, etc. (conflict management skills) required.
• Ability to lead by example required.
