GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities include: The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering activities to include ventilation, pumping, dispatch, electrical, and special projects. The position is expected to develop and maintain a close working relationship with Mine Planning, Geology, Operations and Exploration in meeting the day-to-day and future mine service requirements for the mine. Other duties include but not limited to the following:
• Project status reporting, ventilation monitoring and dispatch reporting
• Develop and execute overall strategy for mine services engineering based on input from other departments and personnel
• Complete and review mine services planning design to increase value to operation
• Monitor completion of economic evaluations and feasibility studies on underground projects
• Develop mine tracking and control systems
• Assist in the development of the overall mine budge and business plan targets
• Budgeting and cost variance review and tracking
• Perform scoping level engineering studies and manage engineering design process on mine infrastructure projects
• Manage infrastructure projects in accordance with Barrick project management guidelines
SELECTION CRITERIA
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:
• Bachelor Degree in Geological/Mining Engineering, Geology or related degree required
• Minimum three (3) years experience required
• Five (5) years experience preferred
• Previous underground mine experience preferred
• Two (2) years supervisory experience preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required
• Ability to work well as a team member and demonstrate safety leadership required
• Demonstrated capacity to execute and hold self, as well as others, accountable for results required
• Excellent safety record required
