GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities include: Conduct regular and formal downtime analysis for critical electrical equipment and control systems. Identify, quantify and implement initiatives that will improve overall equipment reliability and performance. Coordinate electrical equipment improvement trials, including technical input, tracking and reporting. Ensure alignment of all trial work with the “Goldstrike Management of Change Policy. Assist in the development of the annual reliability & integrity maintenance budget. Supervise major shutdown activities that are specifically related to critical electrical equipment. Facilitate/lead root cause failure analysis and safety incident investigations – as required, using TapRoot or other relevant systematic RCA techniques. Identify and support the implementation of corrective actions that mitigate risk to an acceptable level, ensuring all analyses and activities are appropriately documented. Provide technical input to Maintenance Procedures, Standards and Specifications, particularly on electrical aspects, including electrical safety. Produce electrical reliability-based content for the site monthly operations report and for the quarterly TAC report. Provide support to the site PM program through technical guidance in the area of thermography applied to electrical equipment and oil analysis programs applied to transformers. Participate in networking forums for electrical reliability and maintenance within Barrick and Newmont as well as other external organizations – with the purpose of keeping knowledge up-to-date.
SELECTION CRITERIA
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on Power Systems required
• One (1) to Three (3) years of mining related electrical engineering experience preferred
• Ability to work effectively with maintenance technicians and personnel of other departments required.
• Excellent leadership ability required
• Proven safe work record required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and willingness to work in team environment required
• Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job required
