GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities include : Acting as the North America representative to the Global Drilling Support team, assisting with the development and implementation of the global drilling policy and best practices. Allocate, monitor and control exploration drilling activities in accordance with budget objectives and ensure contract control procedures are followed. Work closely with the safety team to develop, maintain, and lead a strong safety culture within the drilling contractors.
Specific responsibilities include: review drill service contracts; conduct reviews on completed projects to identify improvements or cost cutting initiatives; create & maintain reporting systems to monitor drill program performance; report regularly on performance & project summaries; visit active drill projects regularly troubleshooting and identifying potential technical modifications; participate in the advancement of new technologies.
SELECTION CRITERIA
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:
· 5 years experience in managing drilling contracts required.
· Degree in geology, related science, or business preferred .
· Technical knowledge of surface and underground rotary and core drilling operations required .
· Familiarity and understanding of exploration process and reporting requirements required .
· 10 years experience with exploration drilling required .
· 5 years supervisory and/or management experience required .
· Proven safety record required
· Ability to interact effectively with all levels of expertise required
· Good communication skills, problem solving skills & computer skills required
· Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job required
