Position Title:            Mine Superintendent

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities include:  The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the open pit mine operations which includes mining ore and waste from open pits, stockpiling, blending and crusher feed operations. Waste rock dumping includes co-deposition with tailings. In addition, mining from quarries to supply limestone for processing, construction rock for dams, roads and other applications are part of the Mine Superintendent’s responsibilities.
 
The work will be executed mainly by in-house teams and selected contractors.  Ensure correct procedures are followed regarding safety and environmental objectives. Interface with mine site staff and departments to coordinate operation of the mine. 
 
Interface with site, regional, and corporate management and outside stakeholders to ensure project commitment.  Analyse conflicts, negotiate resolutions, set priorities and make sound and timely decisions to ensure production targets are met. Develop, monitor and manage budgets and short term schedules. 
 
Oversee training and development of national staff and manage succession planning.
 
 

SELECTION CRITERIA
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:  To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
Knowledge in open pit mining required.
10 years appropriate experience required.
Experience at previous international assignments preferred.
Experience with large fleets in multiple pit application required.
Strong oral and written communication skills required.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
