Role purpose
The primary purpose of the Principal Geologist - Opportunities is to lead the exploration function of Business Development, liaise with Evaluations and be the Interface with Corporate Development, to ensure the generation, recognition of and preparedness for opportunities when they arise. Role includes:

2. Key Responsibility Areas
· Desktop Studies (30%): Proactive public information reviews of companies / projects. Manage Evaluations database with Sr. Database Administrator..
· Proactive Tracking (30%) : Identification, communication and collaborative tracking of opportunities with regions, Evaluations and CD.
· Generation (20%) : Generate new business development concepts / opportunities.
· Evaluations / Corporate Development Interface (10%): Primary contact for communication of exploration opportunities with Eval/CD to ensure best co-ordinated effort.
· Due Diligence (5%): Assistance in obtaining, collating, reviewing, summarising data-sets for reviews as required.
· Competitor activity analysis (5%): Help with ongoing competitor activity analysis (Watch Lists etc).
Specific functional duties include:
Generate acquisition opportunities, monitor competitor activity, provide support for Evaluations, carry out submittal reviews and desktop studies and participate in due diligence reviews as required.
Lead updates of Evaluations Database, working closely with Exploration, Evaluations and CD to ensure it remains utilised and current. Track and ensure processes in place to react to triggers.
Maintain an active global list of opportunities being tracked, monitored, actioned, and report monthly, via close liaising with regional contacts.
Upside evaluations - Contribute to project and competitor reviews by providing early-stage evaluation of size potential of projects of interest.
Contribute to weekly CD-Evaluations discussions
Provide support for economic template update
3. Key Role Qualifications Required
· Bachelor of Science (Geology) preferably with Honours or higher
· Continued professional development and technical training.
4. Key Skills & Experience Required
· Minimum 15 years relevant experience
· Demonstrated commitment to safety, community and environment
· Excellent communication and administration skills.
· Demonstrated self motivation and leadership ability.
· Sound understanding of geological models, ore systems
· Knowledge of global settings / deposits
· Working to Advanced use of 3D visualisation software (eg Vulcan, Surpac, Leapfrog)
· Working to Advanced use of MEG, Intierra or similar
